# FilmContractor Privacy Policy

Effective date: 31 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how FilmContractor handles information when you use the FilmContractor Windows application. FilmContractor is part of the Movie Accountant Suite product family.

## 2. Information handled by the application

FilmContractor may process information that you enter or select, including:

- company names and company details;
- names and contact details of signatories or other contract participants;
- registered addresses, registration numbers, tax numbers and bank-account information;
- service descriptions, dates, monetary amounts, currencies and purchase-order references;
- document templates, template paths, tags, prefixes and placeholder content;
- generated contract files, file paths, contract-register entries and contract statuses;
- application preferences, such as language, theme, currency, file locations and window layout;
- local trial-state information, including distinct usage dates and an integrity value used to determine trial availability.

Depending on the content entered by the user, contract templates and generated documents may contain personal data or confidential business information.

## 3. How information is used

The application uses this information solely to provide its local functions, including:

- filling DOCX templates and generating documents;
- maintaining the local company directory and contract register;
- locating templates and generated files;
- filtering templates and contract records;
- retaining application preferences; and
- enforcing the locally installed trial edition's usage limits.

## 4. Local storage and transmission

FilmContractor stores application data locally on the user's Windows device, normally within the application's local data area, or in file locations selected by the user.

FilmContractor does not require a FilmContractor cloud account. The application does not automatically upload contract content, company records, templates or generated documents to the publisher and does not contain publisher-operated analytics or advertising tracking.

Users may choose folders that are synchronised by third-party services, such as OneDrive or another backup provider. Any processing performed by such a service is controlled by the user and the relevant third party and is governed by that third party's terms and privacy policy.

## 5. External links and email

The application contains user-initiated links to FilmContractor and Movie Accountant Suite websites and may open the user's default email application for support contact. These actions occur only when selected by the user. The destination website, browser, email provider or other external service may process information under its own privacy policy.

FilmContractor does not automatically send emails from within the application.

## 6. Legal basis and user responsibility

The publisher does not receive the business or personal information stored in the application during ordinary local use. The user or the organisation using FilmContractor determines the purposes and legal basis for entering, storing and using personal data in templates, company records and generated documents.

Where a user processes personal data on behalf of an organisation, that organisation is generally responsible for providing required notices, establishing a lawful basis, applying appropriate retention periods and responding to data-subject requests.

## 7. Retention and deletion

Application data remains on the user's device until the user edits or deletes it, removes the relevant files, resets the application's data or removes it through other Windows storage-management functions.

Uninstalling an application may not remove every user-created document stored outside the application's private data area. Users should separately review selected output folders, backups and synchronised storage locations.

The publisher cannot remotely access, correct or delete locally stored contract or company data because that data is not transmitted to the publisher during ordinary use.

## 8. Security

FilmContractor relies on Windows file-system and application-package protections. Users are responsible for securing their Windows account, device, selected folders, backups and generated documents. For sensitive data, users should apply suitable access controls, device encryption, secure backups and organisational policies.

No storage or security measure can guarantee absolute protection. Users should avoid entering information that is not necessary for their document workflow.

## 9. Children

FilmContractor is a professional business application and is not directed to children.

## 10. International transfers

FilmContractor does not transfer locally stored contract content, company records, templates or generated documents to the publisher. Transfers may occur only through services independently selected or activated by the user, such as cloud-synchronised folders, email or external websites.

## 11. Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated to reflect changes to FilmContractor, applicable law or distribution requirements. The current version will be published at the privacy-policy URL shown in the Microsoft Store listing and on the FilmContractor website.

## 13. Optional Google Ads measurement on the website (draft addition, 19 September 2026)

This section concerns filmcontractor.com, not the locally stored data in the Windows application. With your permission, the website loads a Google Ads tag to measure intentional clicks on its FilmContractor purchase links to Gumroad and Lemon Squeezy. The event is named “FilmContractor - Purchase Link Click”. A click does not establish that a payment, trial activation or subscription occurred. We do not send an order value or purchase confirmation with this event.

Google receives technical information when its tag loads and when measurement occurs, which may include your IP address, browser/device information, page URL, referrer, advertising click identifiers (where present) and cookie identifiers. Google Ads may read or set first-party advertising measurement cookies, such as cookies beginning with _gcl_. Google processes this information to provide advertising attribution and measurement. This implementation does not add Google Analytics, enhanced conversions, customer contact data uploads or personalised advertising; analytics and advertising-personalisation consent remain denied.

The Google tag does not load and no Google Ads event is sent before you explicitly allow measurement. Declining does not restrict any website function or purchase link. Your permission applies to this optional measurement and may be withdrawn. The choice and its expiry are stored in your browser’s local storage under FilmContractor.AdsConsent.v1 for up to 180 days; the stored record and expiry are not uploaded, but the consent status is communicated to the Google tag. If local storage is unavailable, permission to measure lasts only for the current page.

Use “Measurement settings” in the footer of any page to reopen the panel, then select “Decline measurement” to withdraw permission. New click events are disabled immediately. If the Google tag was loaded, it is instructed to deny consent (which may send a technical consent-state update); the page then reloads without loading the tag. Accessible first-party Google Ads cookies beginning with _gcl_ or _gac_ are deleted. The website cannot delete cookies on Google’s domain or recall information already transmitted. Other open tabs receive the changed choice where the browser supports shared local storage. You can also clear site data in your browser.

A necessary first-party preference cookie, FilmContractor.AdsDenied, also remembers a refusal for up to 180 days. It prevents a previously saved permission from being reused if local storage cannot be updated. Accepting measurement removes this refusal cookie. If local storage is unavailable, permission to measure lasts only for the current page, while a refusal can still be remembered by this cookie.

Google’s handling and retention of data, and any international processing, are described in its policies: https://policies.google.com/privacy and https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites . This addition describes the new measurement only, not a comprehensive audit of existing third-party content. The final wording remains subject to a separate review.
